Mexican Hammocks Ltd Pty is an Australian Company.  It is owned and operated by Mike Rennie and Guy Halpin from New Zealand and Australia. Selling high-quality 100% hand-woven Mexican hammocks, along with Mexican Blankets, Mexican Ponchos and Baja Hoodies to Europe and worldwide.

All the hammocks we sell at Hammock Shop Europe are individually hand-woven in the state of Yucatán, in México by indigenous Mayan men and women.

The work on hammocks is a long standing traditional skill that has been passed down through the generations over thousands of years, and provides sustainable work and income to people of this region.

The hammocks are woven in an environmentally friendly home based setup where conditions are much better, fairer and safer than in factories. Working from home allows our weavers the opportunity to work, and the convenience to raise and care for their family at the same time.

Our weavers are supplied all the required materials to create the hammocks - they do not need to purchase these and are paid a fair price for completed hammocks. These are either delivered to our company headquarters in Merida or one of our representatives will collect these from the outlaying villages.

We take pride in helping to provide employment for many weavers in remote village areas that would otherwise not have many or any work opportunities. We strongly believe in Fair Trade principles and the quality of hand-made goods. We ensure our weavers are paid and rewarded fairly for their skillful hammock weaving. Our weavers are happy in their work and this is evident  through in the high quality of the hammocks they produce.

We strive to provide our clients with a unique and enjoyable online shopping experience through an easy to use website and detailed information. We work to help continually improve the lives of the local native Mayan Community through the provision of sustainable employment and fair working conditions.

We are an Australian based company, operating successfully in Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK and South Africa. All orders are processed directly through us and your purchases are dispatched (via express international courier services) directly from our freshly made stocks in Mérida, México.
